We have another great social event planned this month. Old Man Blue are hosting a demo night at Adreno to showcase their quality crayfishing and spearfishing equipment. We are having a talk from the legend himself Joe P about all things sharks while spearfishing.  The committee will also give an updated on club events and activities coming up.  Meet from approx 6pm. Hi Members,  Another Financial year has come to an end, which means it is time for our AGM. This year we will be holding it Saturday the 3rd of August at 3pm at Peter Pav’s workshop- unit 3 76 cocos drive bibra lake. Food and drinks will be provided followed by a presentation for all our event and competition winners from throughout the year. A door prize and members raffle will be held on the night so make sure you jump on line and check you are all paid up.   Free ticket's available for members and there Family/friends, please make sure you get them if you are planning on coming so we can make sure there is plenty of food and beer to go round.  In regards to the year long competitions, an error has been made in the transition of websites, the rules for the trout, dhu and Mack Comps have been updated to allow for entries to be entered past the 31 day mark. So if you have any entries you didn’t put in because you thought you had missed the window please get them in asap. Entrees for the last financial year will close on the 15/07/24. We apologise for any confusion this may have caused.

After ten years, the Australian Underwater Federation Spearfishing Nationals are coming back to Western Australia in April 2024.  WA Undersea Club and the Spearo’s of WA are thrilled to extend a warm invitation to all passionate divers to join us at the prestigious 69th National Championships, set to take place in the breathtaking coastal town of Dunsborough, Southwest Western Australia.   The south coast’s pristine waters and abundant marine life make it the ideal location for this championship. Nestled along the rugged coastline of the Indian Ocean, the southwest cape boasts clear waters, diverse underwater terrain, and a thriving aquatic ecosystem, providing a challenging yet rewarding site for spearing. With its breathtaking natural beauty and the warm hospitality of the local community, WA’s southwest offers competitors and spectators alike an unforgettable experience both in and out of the water.   The Australian National Spearfishing Championships will be a shore-based pairs competition with a series of exciting categories, that will test your skills, precision, and resilience as a spearo. Whether you're a seasoned competitor or a newcomer looking to embrace the thrill of spearfishing at a national level, this event promises to be an unforgettable event that celebrates the art and passion of spearfishing while exploring the pristine underwater wonders of Australia's southwestern coast. Those purchased before the 15th of March will recieve a free 69th Australian Spearfishing Nationals Shirt. Ticket sales will closed on the 6th of april, two weeks prior to the event. If one person in your pair can no longer compete and a replacement diver is to take their place please contact competitions@waundersea.com and inform us of the change. Glynn Dromey 2024 The Glynn Dromey is due to be held on SATURDAY THE 6th APRIL.   Sign on will commence near the boat ramp at 6:15am and end at 6:45am, all pairs MUST be present and have signed on before then. We will have our pre-comp briefing before a shotgun start.   The Glynn Dromey is open for anyone to enter though cost an additional $30 for non-members. Members are $30 each while non members are $60. Members, make sure you are logged in when buying your ticket or you will not be able to purchase tickets at members price. Paying cash on the day is acceptable but online purchase is prefered.   Sign off is strictly 2pm and one member for each pair must present at Wangaree Park before sign-off time or else risk disqualification, the weigh in will commence soon after.   Rules here   Species List here   We can’t wait to see you all!

ALBANY COMP  2024 The Albany competition is now confirmed for Saturday the 16th of March. This is a species competition, entered in pairs, with entry open to all financial members of the club. This is a members only event. For safety reasons and so we can operate a smooth weigh in, can you please register prior to the event by entering your pair through the event page at the club website here- https://waunderseaclub.tidyhq.com/public/schedule/events If you have any issues with registering please email Shane at Competitions@waundersea.com to inform him of entering and the issue you are having on the website. If you register for the event but decide not to attend, you are running late or decide not to come to the weigh in, please contact us ASAP so we know that you are safe and well. The weigh in will be held at Eyre Park (Garden St) in Middleton Beach, Albany. Weighing will commence from 2pm. Make sure one pair checks in with committee before then otherwise disqualification/penalties will apply. SpearAus Metro Masters 2024 The Metro Masters is due to be held on Saturday the 13th  Jan. This will be weather dependent with final call made on Thursday the 11th. The competition starts at sunrise and the weigh-in time is set for 1pm (TBC closer to event) and will be held at John Tonkin Reserve, East Fremantle. It's time for the WAUC XMAS Party!!! This is a members (+ partners and family) only event that will be held at 24 Bullfinch St, Spearwood WA 6163. This is a ticketed event so please make sure you fill in your details and select the correct amount of free tickets for any family you are bringing with you so we can cater accordingly.  The party will start at 5pm and food and a limited amount of beers will be provided. Swags are welcome and encouraged so you can enjoy the fun and everyone can stay safe.    We can't wait to see you all there!

Come along and pick Bert's brain for what he's created and what's in store. Probably a good chance to catch some new faces and most likely the same familiar ones as well Don't forget the wallet as there will be new and old stock available, which Bert has kindly provided with a one night discount. Rotto Social Trip / Cray Comp Scout 9th September 2023   We thought we would kick off the metro calendar with an easy social trip to Rottnest. A chance to practice your cray catching skills, scout for new ground and catchup for a tall story and a beer after.   This is a low key event with a social meet up at the pub. So get a few boats and people together, have a dive and we’ll meet you at the pub! There is plenty of opportunity for a shore dive at rotto so if you don’t have a boat jump on the ferry for the day.

Hi All, We are under a week out from our first club meeting of this financial year and we are lucky enough to have the legend @dinner.with.deryck coming down to talk about great alternative species, now the demersal ban is in effect, and even give us a demonstration of one of his many recipes. Meeting will start at 6:30 as usual and we will be touching base on events and dates for this coming year. There will be a fish and sausage sizzle, BYO drinks. KARRATHA ADVENTURE SPORT DAMPIER COMPETITION 2023   The Dampier species competition is planned to go ahead on SATURDAY 12th AUGUST.   The current weather is looking glamourous but as normal the comittee will monitor the weather and provide updates as the event approaches. The competition will only get postponed if the weather is deemed to be too dangerous to dive, with Sunday as the first option if it needs to be moved.   This is a species competition, entered in pairs, with entry open to all financial members of the club. Competitors can start diving from sunrise and must return to the weigh in location by 3:30pm.   Please allow ample time to retrieve your vessel and return to the weigh in location before the cut off time or risk disqualification. The weigh in will be held at The Palms on The Esplanade, Dampier Weighing will commence from 3:30pm.   Eligible prize categories are as follows. 1st to 3rd top overall scoring pairs. Top Mixed Pair (Male & Junior/Female) Top female pair Most meritorious fish Mystery prize   A full list of eligible species and competition rules can be viewed in the links below.
